IN A BOOTH, DIMLY

Around 3:45 p.m. each weekday afternoon, I get up from my desk and walk about 70 paces to a place called PC2. Director Keith Brown is there — you can see him in the background of the picture — and together we put on the best damned newscast in the state of Missouri.

It's a lot of fun, as I've mentioned before. Sometimes we dip in and hear the anchors during the breaks, as Leigh talks to the pet of the week in her cute puppy-dog voice, or Joe fires off one of his patented "GET TO KNOW ME" barks. Woof.

The booth is always cool. It's also always dark. Somehow, this seems the proper atmosphere for a place where blood can boil and everything seems brighter than the sun. Smart psychology.
